You are organising a trip to the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales

IELTS GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample:

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You are organising a trip to the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales for a group of students from Perth in Western Australia.

Write to the manager of Student Hostel Services and explain when you want to visit the Snowy Mountains, how long you will stay, how many students are in your party, and what accommodation you will require.

You should write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write your own address.

Begin your letter as follow;

Dear Sir/Madam,

Model Answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to inform you that I, with a team of 20 students, will be visiting the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales at the beginning of the coming September. The students are from a local college in Perth, Australia.

As the number of students is moderate, I would like to know about the Student Hostel Services that you offer. We will stay there for three continuous days. Please share the accommodation system at the hostel. Rooms with four beds are preferable and in that case, we would need around six rooms for staying there. Besides, we also need to store our logistics and please inform if you have adequate parking facilities for 4 vehicles, one bus and three private cars. We shall return in the early hours of the fourth day.

So, please inform me if you have enough rooms and other facilities we need for the trip with the rent and charges.

Yours faithfully,

Barkley Smith
