Letter to hotel manager for part-time work over the summer

IELTS GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample:

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You have seen an advertisement for part-time work in a hotel for three months over the summer.

Write a letter to the hotel manager. In your letter

     – say what experience you have
     – ask what the work involves
     – enquire about job conditions

You should write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write your own address.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Jenna Flone, writing this letter to expresses my interest in the part-time job in your hotel for three months during this summer. I saw your advertisement in the daily Moon and would like to offer my candidacy for the job.

I am experienced in handling the front desk activities and you are looking for the same or someone who has a similar experience. In fact, I used to be a front desk officer for a multinational office in Portugal but left the job for my academic activities. I worked for a year in this company and my employer was satisfied with my performance. I am capable of making phone calls, arrange online reservations, responding to queries and complaints, dealing with clients and other relevant tasks.

But I would also like to know about the working conditions and payments that you did not mention in the advertisement. So, it would be nice if you kindly write me back with the missing information.

I do not have classes during the summer and would like to utilise my time. Being able to serve your hotel would be an excellent opportunity for me. I hope you would consider me as a deserving applicant for the post.
