IELTS GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.You recently stayed in a hotel in a large city. The weather was very unusual for the time of year and the heating/cooling system in the hotel was quite inadequate.
Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:- give details of what was wrong
- explain what you had to do to overcome the problem at the time
- say what action you would like the manager to take
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own address.
Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir,
I would like to notify you that I stayed at your hotel in Munich from 25th to 27th January and had a very bad experience as the room heating system was inadequate. I regret my decision to stay at your hotel and in reality, I am disappointed with the experience.
During my stay, the heating system was not working properly. The weather condition was unusual and it was snowing everywhere. So, I needed sufficient heat in the room to stay warm. But I could not get the warmness from the electric heater that was set at a corner of the room. I had to wear a couple of heavy clothes to prevent the bitter cold. I informed it to the person in the reception area but that was of no use at all. Nobody came to repair or replace the heater.
Therefore, considering the above ground, I would like to ask you to replace the heater from the room. You can also repair it too if you find replacing costlier. Stick to your reputation and serve the guest with proper care and regulations.
